Curious About a Plant-Based Diet?
FeaturedThe next program in the Rockport Public Library’s “Let’s Feel Better in 2026” series will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 4, at 1 p.m. Nancy Albertson, certified Plant-Based Coach with Food Revolution Network, will give an interactive presentation for those who are curious about how and why to incorporate more plant-based foods into their diet. The event is free, open to the public, and will include a few delicious plant-based snacks for attendees to sample. The library will also have plant-based cookbooks readily on hand for inspired attendees to borrow. Albertson is part of the group Plant Powered MAINE, which was formed to support those currently practicing a plant-based lifestyle or anyone that is looking to embark on a plant-based wellness journey. The group facilitates gatherings, potlucks, documentary screenings, and more.

Rockport Room (Lower Level)Mahjong or mah-jongg (English pronunciation: mah-JONG) is a tile-based game that was developed in the 19th century in China and has spread throughout the world since the early 20th century. It is commonly played by four players (with some three-player variations). This group meets on Fridays, at 10:00 AM for approximately 90-120 minutes.

Ancient Greek for Beginners
Have you ever wanted to read The Odyssey or the New Testament in the original language? By the end of this fast-paced 10-week course, you will be able to read and write (and speak!) basic sentences in Ancient Greek as it was spoken in Athens around 500 BCE. (It will not help you order a coffee in Greece!) This course is open to all ages and is ideal for those who have never studied Ancient Greek before. About the Instructor: Elizabeth Ogle recently earned her master’s in Greek and Latin Languages & Literature from Oxford University, where she focused on Greek tragedy and the Underworld. She performed in the first Greek play ever to be staged in the original language and with reconstructed Ancient Greek music, instruments, and masks. My Favorite Vegetables: Growing Gourmet
FeaturedSpring has nearly sprung, which means it’s time to kick off the Rockport Public Library’s Spring Horticulture Talks, in partnership with Merryspring Nature Center. The first presentation entitled, “My Favorite Vegetables: Growing Gourmet,” will take place on Wednesday, Mar. 11, at 1 p.m. in the library’s lower level. All programs in this series, held monthly from March through June, are free and open to the public. From 1998 to 2020, John and Kathy Fromer grew gourmet vegetables for fine restaurants, caterers, B&B’s, and markets. Selected for their taste and unique colors, these vegetables were still warm from the garden when delivered. Varieties were chosen to thrive in midcoast Maine and provide bountiful harvests from a one-acre garden. Because they did not travel from afar, the produce had excellent shelf life and maintained their flavor and nutritional value. John Fromer will discuss these selections and provide tips on how to grow them. Most are only available to grow from seed due to their uniqueness. Fortunately, gourmet vegetables are no harder to grow than standard varieties!
