The first talk in the Rockport Public Library’s fall series of programs in partnership with the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC) - Maine Chapter will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. Ecologist, naturalist, and researcher Logan Parker will share insights from his vital research on Maine's aerial insectivores, discussing the trends and challenges facing these remarkable birds, and shedding light on the findings of the Maine Bird Atlas.Parker is deeply dedicated to understanding and protecting Maine's rich biodiversity. He served as the lead technician for the comprehensive Maine Bird Atlas (2018-2022) and is a co-author of its publication. In addition to his extensive work with the Atlas, Logan is the founder of the Maine Nightjar Monitoring Project and a passionate advocate for avian conservation. The Maine chapter of the Appalachian Mountain Club is dedicated to fostering the protection, enjoyment, and understanding of Maine's mountains, forests, paths, and trails.
