After, there will be cider, chocolate milk, and treats from LAUGH loud SMILE big! P.A.W.S. will be joining the festivities, bringing adorable costumed shelter dogs to walk along with us in our parade! |

On Wednesday, Nov. 5, at 6 p.m., the Rockport Public Library will host Maine author Barbara Kent Lawrence for an event introducing her new book, Both Sides of the Pond — My Family’s War: 1933 - 1946. The presentation will incorporate artifacts and highlight the author’s “Ah-ha” moments while conducting background research. The book tells the story of Lawrence’s mother Barbara Greene, a young British actress who met Joe Kennedy, Jr. (son of the American Ambassador) in January of 1939. Their relationship would lead to her emigrating to the United States and learning to pilot a plane. The book also cover the experiences of Lawrence’s uncle Kent (Barbara Green’s brother), his bitter retreat from Dunkirk when he left England in January 1940 to fight in France, and his subsequent service on the frontlines in Cornwall, North Africa, Sicily, and Burma. Evan Thomas, author of two New York Times best-selling books, including Road to Surrender states, “Barbara Lawrence has given us an intimate, harrowing, and vivid portrait of two young people engulfed by a world war . . . On Wednesday, November 12, at 6 p.m. the Rockport Public Library will host midcoast resident Lindelinkosi Nyoni for an inspiring presentation that takes audiences on a visual journey through Zimbabwe’s beauty, culture, and resilient spirit. From the grandeur of the Victoria Falls, to the warmth of its villages, attendees will experience the story of a nation shaped by faith, endurance, and hope. Through powerful stories, vivid photos, and reflections of faith, Nyoni will illustrate how the people of Zimbabwe continue to rise above challenges through their courage and grace. Lindelinkosi Nyoni serves as a missionary pastor based in Camden, Maine, where he works with four churches. His journey from a career in electrical engineering to full-time pastoral work reflects a deep commitment to people, purpose, and personal growth. With experience spanning Africa, North America, South America, Asia, and the South Pacific, Nyoni brings a global perspective to his work. He is passionate about inspiring others through meaningful storytelling, teaching, and service, helping individuals and communities find hope, resilience, and direction in a complex world. |
