The Rockport Public Library will host their first Camden Conference Community Event of the season on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. The presentation by Trevor Paul will be an account of the years he spent living and working in Tianjin, China, experiencing the country’s private and public education systems firsthand.

Paul will discuss the realities and misconceptions around Chinese education. He will also explore recent changes in education policies and structures, as well as what those moves might suggest about the country’s views of the future.

Trevor Paul is an English and history teacher at Camden Hills Regional High School, where he also coaches ice hockey. As a side passion, he writes fantasy novels and short stories. In addition to China, he has also lived in Germany and worked for Hebron Academy for nearly a decade before moving to the midcoast with his wife and son.

The 40th Annual Camden Conference will be held February 19-21, 2027. This year’s topic is: Beyond the American Century: A New World Order? Learn more at: camdenconference.org
