SUMMARY:Demystifying Tea Blending
DESCRIPTION:On Wednesday\, Jan. 21\, at 1 p.m.\, herbalist Mo Katz-Christy will teach a class entitled\, “Demystifying Tea Blending.” Part science\, part sensory exploration\, Katz-Christy promises that the class will be as playful as it is educational. This free program is part of the library’s ongoing “foodie series\,” and is sponsored by the Friends of the Rockport Public Library. \n\n\n\nKatz-Christy will discuss a handful of common herbs for tea: their uses\, flavors\, energies\, and what they add to a blend. Participants will smell each of the herbs and taste some as well\, learning how the flavors combine and how they complement each other. The class will also explore different considerations for the process of making tea\, including infusing versus boiling\, water temperature\, and infusion time. \n\n\n\nParticipants will leave the 90-minute workshop with personally crafted tea blend to take home. Limited to 20 participants. Please call the Rockport Public Library at 207-236-3642 to reserve a spot. \n\n\n\nMo Katz-Christy (they/them) graduated from a three-year clinical herbalism program at the Vermont Center for Integrative Herbalism in 2022. They work one-on-one with clients to address root imbalances that cause dysregulation and to promote long-term healing. You can find out more about their work at mokatzchristy.com.

SUMMARY:Story as Medicine: Using the Power of Narrative to Shape How We See and Live
DESCRIPTION:The Rockport Public Library’s Let’s Feel Better in 2026 series continues on Wednesday\, Feb. 4\, at 1 p.m. with a presentation by author and authenticity coach Suzanne Carver. \n\n\n\nIn Story as Medicine\, Carver invites participants to explore the stories they tell — about themselves\, their past\, and what they believe is possible — and how those stories quietly shape the way they live. Rather than focusing on writing technique\, this interactive talk centers on awareness\, reflection\, and choice: noticing which narratives support us\, which ones limit us\, and where we have the power to consciously reshape the stories we’re living by. \n\n\n\nThrough guided reflection and simple\, accessible exercises\, participants will learn how to reframe self-talk\, loosen the grip of inherited or outdated stories\, and expand the way they see themselves and their lives. No writing experience is required — just curiosity and a willingness to look at your story with fresh eyes. \n\n\n\nSuzanne Carver is the founder of The True YOU Blog and the author of the novel Flight Path\, which Kirkus Reviews called “a domestic thriller with heart…riveting.” A graduate of Camden-Rockport High School\, she now works as an authenticity coach\, teacher\, speaker\, and guide for people on their journey of self-discovery. She is also a wife\, mother\, and trauma survivor.
